2008, 2009 Drive Axle Failure

All 2008 MX Z, Summit, GSX and early release (model MJ9A) 2009 MX Z TNT E-Tec sleds

Cracks may develop in welded joints on the drive axle resulting lost control of sled. Return machine to dealer to have drive axle replaced. Chaincase bolts and chain adjuster bolt seal will also be replaced.

 

2009 MX Z TNT Early Release Fuel Hoses

2009 MX Z TNT E-Tec (MJ9A model, early release only)

New Injection Calibration to meet emission standards. Fuel hoses to rigid to move during service. Knock sensor voltage is too high. Return to dealer for new injection calibration, new fuel hoses and external wire harness addition.

 

2009 1200 Four Stroke jumps out of gear

Some Serial Nos. 2009 MXZ, Renegade, GSX

Transmission may jump out of gear while riding at constant speed of 50 to 60 mph. Sled will slow they go back into gear. Return to dealer to have stiffer reverse spring installed and ensure shift lever movement is not restricted.

 

2009 MX Z, Summit 800R High Detonation Level

All 2009 MX Z and Summit 800R

Sled may experience permanent limp home situation if "High Detonation Level" is detected. Return to dealer for new ECM calibration to allow limp home mode to reset when sled is shut off.

 

2008 MX Z 500SS & 800R Throttle Cable Interference

Some serial nos. or early build 2008 MX Z 500SS & 800R, Summit 800R

Throttle cable adjuster may interfere with carburetor lever mechanism causing throttle to stick. Return to dealer to have repaired.

 

2008 MX Z 500SS & 800R Fuel Tank

Some serial nos. or early build 2008 MX Z 500SS & 800R, Summit 800R

It was identified that a limited quantity of fuel tanks may develop a crack which could permit a vapour or fuel leak. Return to dealer to inspect and replace tank if needed.

 

2008 X package and MX Z TNT Heated Grip Failure & Electric Start Cable

Some serial nos’ 2008 X package & TNT with hooked handlebars

Heated grips may fail. Electric start cable may be routed incorrectly. Return to dealer to have heater elements replaced and check cable routing.

 

2008 MX Z & GSX 600SDI Electrical Issues

All 2008 MX Z & GSX 600SDI

On some of vehicle electrical irregularities may have been noticed resulting in poor performance or injector error codes.  Dealer to inspect for corrosion at injector connectors, clean and apply dielectric grease, injector wire harness routing to be inspected and repaired and routed correctly if necessary. Also TPS and CPS wire harness to be inspected and repaired if necessary and protective tube to be installed. Tail light wires may have been bunched up under fuel tank cause pinch and short, to be inspected, repaired and routed correctly.  Countershaft support nuts are to be torqued. Speedometer button to be replaced and gauge software updated.  This recall was done in conjunction with drive axle recall, so if your drive axle was replace this should have been done at the same time.

 

2008 MX Z, GSX, Summit 500SS & 800R Wire Harness Issues

All MX Z, GSX, Summit 500SS, 800R

On some of vehicle electrical irregularities may have been noticed. Dealer to inspect voltage regulator wires for damage from rubbing against chassis rivet, repair and tie up away from rivet and apply protective disc over rivet. Tail light wires may have been bunched up under fuel tank cause pinch and short, to be inspected, repaired and routed correctly.  Countershaft support nuts are to be torqued. Speedometer button to be replaced and gauge software updated.  This recall was done in conjunction with drive axle recall, so if your drive axle was replace this should have been done at the same time.

Fuel tanks may have wrong filler neck diameter. Return to dealer to have fuel tank replaced.

 

2007 Legend and Expedition V-800 Vent Freezing & Relay Failure

All 2007  Legend and Expedition V-800

Accumulation of condensation inside oil vent may cause ice build up, restrict air flow and cause oil leak.

Connector on relay may become loose. Return to dealer to modify oil vent and repair relay.

 

2005,2006 Mach Z, MX Z Renegade 1000 & Summit 1000 Ring Gear

All 2005,2006 Mach Z, MX Z Renegade 1000 & Summit 1000

Ring gears must be replaced, there is a possibility they may shatter. Do not use the sled until the ring gear has been replaced.

 

2006 REV, RT, RF Steering Column

Some serial nos. MXZ, GSX, GTX, Freestyle, Tundra, Mach Z, Summit

A very limited quantity of vehicles were produces with welds missing on the steering column. Columns are to be inspected and replaced if necessary.

 

2006 REV 500SS, 600HO, 600HO SDI Ring Gear

Some serial nos. of  MXZ, GSX, GTX, 500SS, 600HO, 600HO SDI

Ring gears must be replaced, there is a possibility they may shatter. Do not use the sled until the ring gear has been replaced.

 

2006 Mach Z, MX Z Renegade 1000 & Summit 1000Coolant Leak

Some serial nos of 2006 Mach Z, MX Z Renegade 1000 & Summit 1000

Coolant leak may develop under the engine when cold. Dealer to replace crankcase heat exchanger cover and gasket.

 

2003, 2004, 2005 SDI Air Box Clamp Interference

Some serial nos. 2003 GT 800SDI, 2003, 2004 Legend 800SDI, 2004  Legend 600SDI

Some serial nos. 2004 MX Z, GSX 600SDI, 2005 MX Z Renegade 600SDI

The clamp hold the air box to the throttle body may interfere with the throttle mechanism. Dealer to install darts to prevent interference.

 

2005 Mach Z Updates

All 2005 Mach Z

A number of updates were to be done to improve the 2005 Mach Z. They included a new ECM Calibration Update, replacement of the fuel pump, exhaust sensor, E-Rave cable and some frame bolts.

 

2005 GTX Passenger Heated Grips

All 2005 GTX

Passenger heated grips would fail after a short period of time. Dealer to install metal sleeve over plastic grip, affix grips to the metal sleeve and cover with grip.

 

2004 MX Z Renegade X, Legend 600SDI Injector Positioning

Some serial nos. 2004 MX Z Renegade X, Legend 600SDI

PTO injector may be wrongly positioned leading to wire damage. Dealer to position correctly and repair wires if needed.

 

2004 600SDI SDI Recalibration and RAVE Heater Wiring

All 2004 with 600SDI engine

When starting, repetitive “start and stop” condition may appear or may be difficult to move vehicle once started. Also spark plug fouling may be noticed. Dealer to update ECM calibration and check RAVE heater for correct wiring.

 

2004 MX Z, GSX 600SDI Fuel Hose Wear

All 2004 MX Z & GSX 600SDI

Friction between spark plug wires, RAVE hoses and fuel hoses may cause them to wear and develop leaks. Dealer to replace hoses if necessary install protective coverings over hoses.

 

2004 MX Z & GSX  Ring Gear

All  MXZ, GSX

Due to problem with ring gears, cracks may appear at bolt location. Dealer to replace inner pulley half and ring gear assembly.
